COMMUNITY CENTRE

A stone's throw from the commercial sector is the community heart of West Hill, the beautiful Heron Park Community and Recreation Centres. Just behind the sign above is the major West Hill baseball diamond where local teams play every evening and weekend through the summer. Here fans and family members cheer on teams of players of all ages and ranges of skill.

Located at Lawrence east of Morningside, on part of the original 200 acres of land purchased by Samuel Heron in 1801 and later divided among his four sons, the historic Heron Park Community Centre is alive with activity. The Centre is in constant use as a site for community groups and dances, meetings and gatherings, it gives focus to the efforts of the residents. In many ways it is the common home for the people of the area. Here is where West Hill comes to play and to celebrate life.

Heron Park provides a wide range of resources for the people of West Hill: swimming and tennis, hockey and figure skating, wading pool and ball diamond, swings and slides. Heron Park is a rich and beautiful resource that adds immeasurably to the quality of life here.

Hockey is Canada's national sport and here on Heron Park's double ice rinks, the future members of the NHL train. Fast becoming one of televisions most popular pastimes, figure skaters learn the elements of their beautiful and demanding craft on the ice at Heron Park Arena.
