COMMUNITY
SERVICES
One of the City of Toronto's major hospital complexes
watches over the communities health from the banks of Highland Creek. The Rouge Valley Medical Centre's
Centenary hospital is second to none in the provision of world
class health care services. It has 400 beds, with 110 specialists and
250 general practitioners on staff. Centenary is a teaching hospital
for obstetrics and general medicine, and is affiliated with
Centennial College and York University.

located in the old 43 Division station on Lawrence at Galloway and offer a huge variety of free

Policing is done from the new 43 Division station located
in West Hill on Lawrence Avenue at Manse Road. Opened in 2006, this major multi-million dollar facility is a significant enhancement to policing in the area. The station is open 24 hours a
day and has contributed
greatly to a safer environment for West Hill's citizens.
Fire station Number 234, part of the East Command of the
5th largest Fire Service in North America, guards over the West Hill
area. Located on Coronation Drive, beside the Robert Borden school,
its fire fighters are alert and ready to help, as I can testify from
personal experience. When my step father suffered a heart attack
while out shoveling snow, the fire fighters from this station were
there within minutes to help him relax and to provide the oxygen that
saved his life.
The Guildwood GO and Via Stations connect West Hill
with the outer world through commuter trains into the city and
through VIA rail, to all parts of the country. GO trains run hourly,
with more frequent trains on service during rush hours.

cannot provide for the needs of those who have fallen on difficult
times. It provides home support, home care, meals on wheels, food
bank and food supplement programs. Operates an adult and child
centre, informal day care registry, information and referral
services, community health centre and other health promotion
programs. West Hill Community services was formerly located at the intersection
